2012 Offseason - Buy/Sell/Hold Report

Feb 16, 2012

bsh-2012.jpg It was no doubt a disappointing season for Sam Bradford (and the Rams overall) as the 2008 Heisman trophy winner and 2010’s AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year dropped to a meager 6 passing TDs for the entire season. A bad ankle caused Bradford to miss six games and the passing attack just simply did not get in gear. The Rams also had turnover and several injuries at WR. Full story

2012 Initial Dynasty Rankings

Jan 20, 2012

2012-initial-dynasty.jpg With the end of the 2011 season, the dynasty rankings have been given their annual cleaning, updated profiles for 68 QBs, 107 RBs, 131 WRs and 56 TEs (that would be 30 rounds of drafting skill-position players only). The profiles include notes on key free agents and any significant contract details in evaluating their dynasty value. Full story

Week 15 Rankings

Dec 15, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg Week 15 is arguably the most important fantasy week of the season as week 15 for most leagues are semi-final games, and the difference between finishing “in the money” vs. getting sent packing with empty pockets. That said, maximizing points at every position becomes extra important, thus looking at those all-important matchups mean that much more. Full story

Week 14 Rankings

Dec 08, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg As we enter the first week of most fantasy playoffs, there are a lot of plus QB matchups to feast on this week. We’ll call out some of the more under-the-radar ones, starting with Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan. Considering the opponent (Houston), Ryan is coming off of a respectable stat line last week and gets a dream matchup this week @ Carolina. Full story

Weekly Squires - Playoff Edition 1

Dec 07, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg Now that the most leagues are in their playoffs, we'll be doing our waiver list a little bit different. It'll be two lists of quickhitters, one of them consisting of veterans that could help a team in the title hunt and the other will be prospects for rebuilding teams out of convention. Remember, even if you're out of it, now is no time to rest on your laurels if the waiver wire is open. Two years ago Arian Foster didn't get his first carry till week 14, he was basically free and available to anyone looking to improve the last spot of their roster. Full story

Week 13 Rankings

Dec 01, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg Many fantasy GMs face a make-or-break week 13 as fringe playoff teams so every lineup decision is extra critical this week. The right (or wrong) decision could make the difference between an invitation to the tournament and an early fishing trip. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 13

Nov 29, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg This is more of a long term pick-up. No one will ever accuse Orton of being a winner or having an "It" factor, but he's an effective enough game manager and the Chiefs snapped him off the waiver wire. They'll try and coach him up for this week's game against the Bears which is winnable now that Caleb Hanie is starting. They'll face the Jets, Packers and Raiders after that. Full story

Week 12 Rankings

Nov 24, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg Happy Thanksgiving! We’re thankful for 3 super games on turkey day so let’s get to it… Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo has been white-hot and will look to keep it going vs. Miami’s 25th ranked passing defense. Romo has thrown for an average of 280 yards and 8 total TDs over his last 3 games. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 12

Nov 23, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg Moore has simply caught on fire the last 3 weeks leading the Dolphins to victories after going 0-7. In that span he's completed 71% of his passes, his TD to INT ratio is 6:1, and the Dolphins have scored 86 points. On deck he's got a shoot-out with the Cowboys plus another game with the soft pass defenses of the Dolphins and patriots Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 11

Nov 15, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg You know it's been a tough week for injuries when Vince Young and Matt Leinart, two players that have been tied together ever since both were top 10 picks only 5 short years ago, are suddenly relevant again. Leinart flamed out spectacularly in Arizona, despite having one of the best WR corps in Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Breaston for most of his stay. With Schaub breaking his foot, the Texans will turn to Leinart as a game manager. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 10

Nov 08, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg If he was dropped because of the high ankle sprain, this is a reminder to check for him in shallow redraft leagues. He still isn't 100% and had to work some of the rust off but his upcoming schedule for the next month is cherry. He'll face off against Cleveland, Seattle, Arizona, San Francisco, and Seattle. Week 10 Rankings

Nov 03, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg As we cross the halfway point of the season and shorter bye weeks, there are a lot of different QB options to go around. One of our hot starts this week is Giants’ QB Eli Manning who has averaged nearly 350 passing yards over the last 4 games to go along with a 7:3 TD to INT ratio (the 3 INTs were all vs. the Seahawks in week 5) over the same period. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 9

Nov 01, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg He might have been abandoned after his 2 INT game against the Raiders where the Chiefs defense won the game for them. He gets the upgrade into this column now that Jon Baldwin has finally made his way onto the game day active list. The rookie immediately becomes their second best playmaker on offense and as he showed Monday night, he can get deep and high point balls just like he did back at the University of Pittsburgh. Week 8 Rankings

Oct 27, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg We’re nearly halfway through the regular season already as we take a look at week 8 QBs. For our good starts, Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger has really heated up as of late and this week he and the team host the visiting New England Patriots which is usually a high scoring affair. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 8

Oct 25, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg Last week we wrote "It's his job now and the Shanahan's can produce offense giving him some upside. We wouldn't feel great about starting him almost sight unseen but if you're a Brady or Vick with few options, he's not a bad start against the Panthers till they come back from a BYE." As expected the Shanahan's took advantage of Beck's better-than-Grossman mobility and used him on a few Qb waggles and naked bootlegs were he had the option to run or throw. Full story

Week 7 Rankings

Oct 20, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg Aaron Rodgers tops our list at QB yet again in Week 7. He’s in the midst of a possible MVP season, and was nearly flawless against the Vikings in their week 11 matchup last season, throwing for 301 yards and 4 TDs. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 7

Oct 18, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg We liked Ponder as the 2nd best QB this year to Newton so we were mildly surprised when the Vikings signed a washed up Donovan McNabb, but it isn't even Halloween yet and he's already turned into a pumpkin. If you check the boxscore from Sunday nights game it would look like McNabb outplayed Ponder. Full story

Week 6 Rankings

Oct 13, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg Despite heavy media criticism these past couple of weeks (*cough Deion Sanders cough*) Dallas QB Tony Romo emerges from the team’s week 6 bye healthier and with his top two WRs healthy as well (Miles Austin and Dez Bryant). They travel to New England to take on the Patriots and their league-worst pass defense. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 6

Oct 12, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg It's official, Tebow is now the starter for the foreseeable future and becomes this week's top pick-up. The potential is there for him to be a top 8 QB rest of the way. We say that based on his 3 performance from last year where he averaged 27 points which was good enough for top player in the pool across all positions (Mike Vick sat out week 17). Full story

Week 6 - College Rankings

Oct 12, 2011

weekly-college-spotlight.jpg LaMichael James is a name even the most casual of college football fans should know by now. The electric Oregon Duck is one of the premier dual threats in the game, and was well on his way to a possible Heisman Trophy run in his junior season before a dislocated elbow suffered this week put a (possible) wrench into those plans. Time to Sell Mike Williams?

Oct 09, 2011

soph-slump.jpg Tampa Bay Mike Williams came into the league with some character red flags, so he was drafted later than his talent showed. He played very well as a rookie with 65 receptions 964 yards and 11 TDs. He also had very consistent production, and it wasn't just a few anomalies that spiked his production Full story

Week 5 Rankings

Oct 06, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg As we enter our first bye week of the season, owners tend to scramble to fill the void left by their resting QB1 (i.e.: Flacco and Romo in particular). Titans’ QB Matt Hasselbeck flip-flips on this list every week it seems but he might be a sneaky start this week against a reeling Steelers defense. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 4

Oct 04, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg He's been patiently scanning the NFL classified section for the right opportunity and it may have just popped up now that the Chad Henne era is coming to an unceremonious end. The current Dolphin regime needs a win ASAP just to stave off a midseason cleaning of the house. They'll probably knock on the Bengals' door once again but unless they offer up a 1st rounder for Carson Palmer, Mike Brown isn't listening. Full story

Week 5 - College Rankings

Oct 04, 2011

weekly-college-spotlight.jpg Virginia Tech's David Wilson spent last season buried on the Hokie depth chart behind future NFLers Ryan Williams and Darren Evans, yet still managed to lead the team in TDs with 11. He's certainly off to a fantastic start in 2011, averaging 6.2 yards per carry to go along with 5 rushing TDs. Full story

Week 4 Rankings

Sep 29, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg Albeit somewhat fluky in nature, Giants’ QB Eli Manning was able to toss 4 TDs passes against the 8th ranked Eagles’ passing defense last week. While he’s been up-and-down so far this year, Eli should be able to carve up the Cardinals’ 25th ranked passing defense that actually made Tarvaris Jackson look serviceable last week. ‘Nuff said. Full story

Weekly Squires - Week 3

Sep 27, 2011

waiver-wire-2.jpg The Raiders are going to enter this week’s game trying to take the air out of the ball against the Patriots so expect a slow to start. That's basically every team's strategy but it goes right out the window when it's 21-0 by the middle of the second quarter. Campbell will have to throw and as the Bills already showed, New England can't rush the passer (only 6 sacks over 3 games). Not that it would make a difference, but Campbell has been throwing from a clean pocket all year only getting sacked twice. Full story

Week 5 College Rankings

Sep 26, 2011

weekly-college-spotlight.jpg Highly touted draft prospect Alshon Jeffery has dropped out of our top 5 WR rankings. Standing at 6’4” 230 pounds, with sub 4.5 speed, Jeffery has the measurables teams drool over. He is currently projected as a sure-fire 1st round talent with top 10 potential. So why is he dropping off our short list? Full story

Week 3 Rankings

Sep 22, 2011

weekly-rankings-generic.jpg It only took two weeks, but we’re starting to see the starting QB climate change a bit across the league, some because of performance and others because of injury. Jaguars’ rookie QB Blaine Gabbert looks in for sure and fellow rookie QB Christian Ponder (MIN) could be right behind him over the next couple of weeks. Full story

waiver-wire-2.jpg Dallas faces the Redskins next week on Monday Night and Tony Romo's likely going to have a questionable tag because of the broken rib and punctured lung. While Kitna is the definition of an NFL journeymen, he performed well last year after Romo's broken collarbone. He had four 300-yard games and threw for 16 TDs to go along with 12 picks last year.
